Anyone can make significant modifications to game play. Parameters that can be modified include:
Number of trials,
Required performance threshold for a game,
Decision time available,
Number of rounds of play,
Instructor code (no impact on game play), and
Difficulty level (applies to only some games).
Changing any of these parameters will also significantly affect the resulting completion code. An instructor might require students to make one of the following modifications prior to game play, and then expect the resulting completion code (for a successful game).
Thus, the instructor can 'know' if the game was modified, and might even require that it be modified before being played (so as to get the expected completion code).
On the game menu, there is an accommodation button. Clicking on it will open the accommodation dialog box, where a modification code can be entered to change game play.
Each of the following accommodation codes involves an initial digit (that specifies what to change) and then two subsequent digits (specifying the new value). The following Modification Codes are available.
0## - Minimum number of trials; e.g., 023 would result in a minimum of 23 trials. The possible range is 01 to 99 trials.
1## - Minimum performance threshold; e.g., 185 would result in a minimum performance threshold of 85% correct. The possible range is 1% to 100%. Use 100 to indicate a minimum performance threshold of 100%.
2## - Decision Time available; e.g., 235 would be considered a value of 35, which is then divided by ten, to become a decision time of 3.5 seconds. A value of 228 would be a decision time of 2.8 seconds. A value of 250 would be a decision time of 5.0 seconds.
3## - Rounds to play; e.g., to require that the game be played twice, use the accommodation code 302. The player would then need to reach the performance threshold for each round separately. The possible range for rounds is 1 to 99.
4## - Instructor code; significantly changes the resulting completion code for your students, without affecting game play. Possible range is 90 to 99 (e.g., #491). Instructor codes below 90 may be later used/reappropriated.
5## - Difficulty Level; e.g., to indicate level 01, 02, or 03. The code 501 would specify level 01. Note that only some games use this feature.
These game codes can be provided individually or combined. For example the combined game code of 020190 (or 190202) indicates 20 trials with a performance threshold of 90%. If combining a game code (e.g., 020) and an accommodation code (e.g., #17), then place the accommodation code AFTER the game code (e.g., 020#17); the accommodation code goes at the very end.
